Glade Festival is proud to announce the addition of not one, not two but THREE of the true pioneers of the psychedelic sound; Raja Ram, Simon Posford and Benji Vaughan join forces to present the Twisted Sound System in a very RARE special two-hour show prepared exclusively Glade 2012.

Headlining the Friday night on the Origin Stage Twisted Sound System are, between them, responsible for ground-breaking music including Shpongle, Hallucinogen, Younger Brother, Prometheus and many other musically defining projects. We’re pleased to announce that they are currently locked in the studio preparing this special one off set featuring synths, laptops, drum machines and much more for a psychedelic journey as never seen or heard before.

Simon Posford is one of the most influential artists in the psychedelic scene. Under the name Hallucinogen, he defined the Goa trance sound with the track LSD, taken from the 1995 album Twisted. In 1996, Simon launched Twisted Records, which is one of the most important trance imprints in the world. After releasing his second album The Lone Deranger in 1997 Simon began collaborating with Raja on Shpongle and went on to produce a trilogy of genre defining downtempo albums. Simon also performed in live outfit Younger Brother with the third member of the Twisted Records Sound System, Benji Vaughan.

From blazing the hippie trail in the sixties through Goa and beyond, founding psychedelic rock band Quintessence and performing at the first two Glastonbury Festivals, Australian-born Raja Ram is known as one of the founding fathers of the psychedelic trance movement. After a brief hiatus, he returned to the music scene at the birth of acid house and alongside Graham Wood and Ian St Paul,  launched TIP Records which later became TIP World, one of the most well-known psy-trance labels in the world. Raja Ram is one half of Shpongle alongside Simon Posford. He is also part of 1200 Mics alongside Ibiza-trance legends Riktam & Bansi AKA Growling Mad Scientists.

Benji Vaughan is most well known for his solo project Prometheus which is signed to Twisted Records. As Prometheus he has released three killer albums: Robot O Chan, Corridor Of Mirrors and Spike

A word from Shpongle ringmaster Raja Ram:

Like a blind man in a dark room trying to describe an elephant, or a neutrino making love to an electron, some things are hard to describe in detail, the sun dazzling on white snow, the smile of a loved on, or the grace of a tortoise on opium bedecked with and precious jewels. A probe into the unconsciousness swirl of the imagination, laced with ginger and honeysuckle, these are a few of my favourite blings, a super nova concoction of old new and future, laced with a drop of the good stuff. The set will be like three madmen sailing off in the middle of the night in a small boat without a compass, semi dangerous, not for the faint hearted or incontinent, a bare knuckle flight to unreality and back, super turbo charged, size thirteen shoes and an attitude to match. These are the cosmic three scientists of sound manipulation, sonic strangulation, loose underpants, and an enormous arsenal of sounds from the last 20 years of working together and the next 20 years of sorting out our differences, which are the same. A treat for sure, the unexpected, The Gollom in the attic, the Robot in the suitcase. This is a night to really shake the follicle of the bollicules, so try to forget to remember to forget, wake up dreaming, and come to the mightiest sound collage since the banning of sea shanties and Tibetan horns. Prometheus will set the fire, we will Hallucinate you, and Shpongle-ise you... surprise you...

The Secret Garden Party production team have given the digital arts on site at the festival a new lease of life, with artists such as Polyphant (http://www.polyphant.tv/) commissioned to design a bespoke immersive environment where he will be blurring the boundaries between architecture, light and space. More bespoke installations will be announced soon.

The original independent dance music festival, The Glade, is a totally immersive experience the beautiful countryside meets beautiful beats, where you can party until dawn without disturbance and without a care. Houghton Hall in Norfolk is one of the few places in the UK where such an experience can be had. No matter which community or tribe, all are invited to come together and participate in this never-to-be-forgotten four-day celebration. It is your very own electric Eden. So what are you waiting for…

With an incredible rural site, burning stages, woodland parties 3D Funktion-one sound system, and pioneering collectives & labels representing every electronic genre over 14 stages showcasing hundreds of DJs and live acts from around the globe, Glade 2012 is set to become the must-go-to festival for all lovers of underground electronic music.

With our incredible 24hr venues, you can party hard until 8am and then chill out in the Inspiral lounge 24hrs a day.

GLADE STAGE LATEST ADDITIONS
EXCLUSIVE UK FESTIVAL APPEARANCE from PLANTAGE 13:
STEPHAN BODZIN, OLIVER HUNTEMANN
STANTON WARRIORS, SYSTEM 7 (Live),
THE CORRESPONDENTS (Live), LEWAH

Glade continues it mission to show the UK’s dance music festival scene how it’s done. Following our first line up announcement two weeks ago, we’re proud to give you a second wave of headliners for the main stage at this summer’s event. If you love experiencing some of the most upfront and exciting electronic music around in a glorious countryside setting, this 4-day event is a REAL festival for serious music lovers. Having blazed the trail for non-commercial dance music events since 2004, Glade is back and you’d better be ready.

New Additions Include:

STEPHAN BODZIN - EXCLUSIVE UK FESTIVAL APPEARANCE
Stephan became a firm fixture on the international techno scene in 2008 with a career that initially began with producing music for several prestigious European theatres. Bremen-born Bodzin has remixed artists like Depeche Mode, Booka Shade and The Knife whilst releasing on labels such as Get Physical, International DJ Gigalo, Datapunk and Systematic. He describes himself as a melody man going on to say “after all it’s the melodies that endure.” The responses to his productions seem to confirm this and his sounds are greatly loved in clubs worldwide.

OLIVER HUNTEMANN  - EXCLUSIVE UK FESTIVAL APPEARANCE
Our second headliner announced is Oliver Huntemann. Hailing from northern Germany, Huntemann discovered electronic music as a ten-year old in the late seventies having being influenced by a new wave of artists hitting European shores like Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and Whodini. Aged fourteen, Oliver started spinning discs and had his eyes set on becoming a DJ. In the late 80s Huntemann spent six years training and working as an electronic engineer with the German Navy whilst keeping his eyes and ears firmly on the evolving electronic music scene. Over the years Oliver’s work has appeared on fellow Glade headliner Sven Vath’s Cocoon imprint, Anthony Rother’s Datapunk label and DJ Hell’s International DJ Gigalo’s.

STANTON WARRIORS
Joining the dots between UKG, breaks and booty bass, UK-duo The Stanton Warriors AKA Mark Yardley and Dominic B have been delivering party-shaking anthems since the late nineties. It was their single Da Virus which saw them achieve wide-spread success which was quickly followed by a mixtape titled The Stanton Sessions Vol.1. This saw them explode big time, headlining clubs and festivals across the globe. Add to this a Fabric Live mix, an album and a whole selection of party smashing anthems, the Stanton's appearance at Glade 2012 will see energy levels fly.

SYSTEM F
Techno / trance crossover act System 7 have been extremely influential on the international music scene. Having had a strong impact at the birth of psychedelic dance music and throughout its journey up to present date, they have forged an unique and contemporary identity in the space where techno, progressive and trance meet. Having collaborated with Detroit luminaries Derrick May and Carl Craig and many other international icons including The Orb, Laurent Garnier, Jam El Mar, A Guy Called Gerald and Son Kite, their most recent album, Up, released last year, sees the duo deliver a techno and tech house sound inspired by time spent in Berlin. Their live sets are inspirational and we’re glad to have them onboard.

THE CORRESPONDENTS (LIVE)
Our last live act, The Correspondents AKA Mr Bruce and Chuck, completely blur the lines, mashing up the history of dance music from Jazz to 60’s Beat, Electro to Dubstep to Drum N Bass and back again. The live shows explore the flamboyant structure of the DJ / MC set-up, with Chuck hurling tracks at the crowd whilst Mr Bruce, dressed in outlandish costume, whips the crowd into a frenzy with his speed-scatting and incredulous dance moves. Last year’s festival season saw them share main stages with a brass section, an infra-red sensored light box together with their trusty conveyor-belt dance platform. This has earned them The Telegraph’s Top Ten Highlights of Glastonbury two years in a row.

LEWAH
Joining them and kick-starting Sunday’s dub-session is South West fast-rising star Lewah, whose excellently crafted dub and chill-step sets have earned her the opportunity to open for Don Letts.

This year we are more than chuffed to welcome back the Liquid Stage, which will run from dusk til dawn in our beautiful new forest area (more on that below…) and playing host to the cream of the UK scene. Providing respite from the onslaught of EDM no Glade would be complete without InSpiral who this year focus on chill out with a superb line up to make your journey complete.

This year we also welcome the team that built the incredible Ozora festival over the past seven years to join us. They will be helping with the décor and production throughout the Village and much more.

GLADE IS BACK… YOU BETTER GET READY.

The UK’s most diverse and creatively delivered electronic music event, Glade returns with a bang in 2012. Having endured several well documented venue changes in 2011, the owners of Houghton Hall in Norfolk were so blown away by last year’s event they have thrown open their land and welcomed the festival back. This year Glade will be a much bigger and better event, set to take place over four beautiful days in spectacular English countryside.  With an incredible site and a stellar lineup, consisting of hundreds of DJs and live acts from around the globe, Glade 2012 is set to become the must-go-to festival for all lovers of underground electronic music.

As anyone who attended in 2011 will agree, this unique venue (which has not been used for any other music festival) is without a doubt the perfect new home for Glade. With a world-class line up of the most exciting names in electronic music alongside the award-winning Secret Productions team (promoter of the year in the 2011 Festival Awards) taking care of the production, Glade 2012 is back to show every other UK dance festival how it’s done.

GLADE STAGE

Featuring the best electronic talent around, the cross-genre Glade Stage is headlined by German techno-legend Sven Vath. Having enjoyed a hugely successful worldwide career spanning over 30 years, Sven is one of the founders of German techno and a driving force behind electronic dance music with his infamous Cocoon label, parties and nightclub.  Famous for his marathon club-sets at Berlin’s notorious Dorian Grey to weekly parties in Ibiza to a non-stop global tour schedule, we are very pleased to welcome Sven to Glade.

Sven Vath said of performing: ‘I'm really looking forward to performing at this year's Glade Festival! I've heard a lot about this event, that it is a serious music lovers' festival with a great line up and most of all I'm looking forward to DJing in the great English countryside.’

Joint headlining is Drum & Bass hero Andy C who presents his jaw-dropping Alive stage show. Having spear-headed the scene since the early 90’s, Andy and his Ram Records label have been at the forefront of this UK dance explosion. His Alive show will see a unique audio / visual extravaganza closing the festival on Sunday. Joining these two prolific artists and rounding off our headliners is French techno don Vitalic, a man who has been decimating dance floors across the globe since the late 90s with his unique brand of electronic funk on labels such as International DJ Gigalo and PIAS.

Elsewhere on the line up we see a quality mixture of proper electronic music taking in the progressive from the sublime Robert Babicz, techno from German scene-leaders Marc Romboy and Extrawelt. Drum n Bass is represented by UK duo Drumsound and Bassline Smith whilst Rusko brings the Dubstep and Radio 1 DJ and Sheffield’s pin up Toddla T joins Don Letts for a dub, reggae and beyond set on Sunday.

The Glade Stage also represents live music with US sensation Pretty Lights performing alongside festival stalwarts The Dub Pistols and British hip-hop, grime and dubstep super group Foreign Beggars.

With plenty more talent performing and another exclusive headliner yet to be announced, expect nothing but the best, whatever the genre - all weekend.

[SONICA 2011 - LOCATION]

Our new venue is only 80km from Montenegrin capital Podgorica, which is where the main airport is located and only 20km from Montenegrin port of Bar. From the airport or from the port you can also easy rent a car or get a taxi. Prices are affordable and fair even for long routes.

Montenegro's currency is Euro €, so you won't need to change your money and as in all developing countries you can easily find cash-machines, banks, hotels and all regular facilities. Many hotels, bungalows, apartments or simple rooms are available around the festival area, but we really suggest you to start checking on time as the festival period is at the start of the summer season, so there will be a large influx of tourists looking to stay on the beautiful Montenegrin coastal zone.

[SONICA 2011 – TRANSPORT]

The venue is easily to reach by any kind of transport and here are the best ways to get to the festival:

[BY AIR]

As this side of Adriatic coast has became very popular with tourism in last few years, we recommend you book your flights in advance in order to get the best possible fares. If you are not able to find affordable fares with Montenegro Airlines, we suggest you to check Malev Hungarian Airlines or Croatia Airlines for direct flights to Podgorica from the main European capitals.

To give you an idea, these are the fares (including taxes) if booking a flight 2 months in advance:

Budapest (for all goers to Ozora): 90,00€ / 1h time flight
Berlin: 160,00€
Bucarest: 185,00€
Amsterdam: 190,00€
Zurich: 210,00€
Bruxelles: 220,00€
Copenaghen: 240,00€
London: 260,00€
Rome: 260,00€
Tel Aviv: 400,00€
Moscow: 300,00€

Alternatively you could reach other destinations such as:

Croatia - Dubrovnik (from UK for only 170,00€ with Croatia Airlines). From Dubrovnik it is only 180km to Sonica venue, which is approximately 3 hours driving or by bus from Ulcinj
Albania - Tirana (from UK for 170,00€ as well) is only 130km from Sonica venue, about 2.5 hours driving or by bus from Ulcinj
